Alberto turned pro in 2005 and in his first year on tour, served notice that he was a player to be reckoned with in the future.  In 2006, he continued to make strides as he was a regular in the quarterfinals or better at the Futures level.  In the final tournament of 2006, Berto took a big step forward as he advanced to the semifinals of the $50,000 Waikoloa Challenger in Hawaii.  With his second full year on tour being 2007, Alberto has steadily risen through the ranks with semifinal showings at the $50,000 Bronx Challenger (Bronx, NY) and $50,000 USTA Challenger of Oklahoma (Tulsa, OK).  In May, he made a quarterfinal appearance at the Countrywide Challenger (Carson, CA).

In college, Alberto attended UCLA where he was a key member of the Bruins' 2005 NCAA National Championship team.  In juniors, Berto was a top-ranked singles and doubles player.  As a doubles team in 1999, Alberto and Tres Davis (USA) played at Wimbledon.

A native of Texas, full name is Alberto Antonio Francis, Jr.  Parents are Alberto, Sr. and Mary Francis, who live in McAllen, Texas.  Has two sisters, Jazmin and Vanessa.
